My wife and I wound our way along the many fjords of
the Breidafjordur to catch the ferry across to Stykkisholmur.
We knew there would be two departures in the course of the
day, but not when they would occur. As it turned out, we got there
at 12:30, just as the ferry was about to depart. We had made it
in time, but the last space in the car deck had just been filled,
so we were out of luck. We drove along side the boat, to consider
our options (the next departure would be over seven hours later).
As we did so, a dock worker started waving us over. It turned
out that they had a little extra space on deck, where they usually
store crates of fish. Our diminutive Toyota Yaris could fit, so,
much to our surprise, they craned it aboard.
